Done with dating apps? Deleting the app from your phone is not enough. Your Tinder, Hinge or Bumble profile stays live, your subscription may keep charging you, and your photos and chats stay on the company’s servers. We read each app’s own help pages and privacy rules to find the steps that actually remove your account, and the parts most guides skip. Below is how to delete Tinder account data and your profile for good, plus the steps for Hinge and Bumble.

The short answer: cancel your subscription first, download your data, then open the app’s Settings and tap Delete Account. Uninstalling never deletes your profile on any of the three apps.
Before You Delete: 3 Steps Most People Skip
- Cancel your subscription. Tinder says deleting your account does not cancel a paid plan. Bumble tells you to cancel Boost, Premium or Premium+ first. Hinge subscriptions renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date. Cancel in your phone’s app store, or wherever you paid.
- Download your data. Want a copy of your matches, messages and photos, or proof of what the app collected? Get it before you delete. Tinder says you lose access to the download once the account is gone.
- Save anything you need from chats. Phone numbers or plans with a match disappear with the account.
How to Delete Tinder Account and Profile
- Open the Tinder app or go to Tinder.com and sign in.
- Tap the profile icon, then Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm.
Can’t get into your account? Tinder’s help center points you to its Manage My Account tool, where you sign in and confirm the deletion.
What Tinder keeps: Tinder says it holds your profile data for 90 days after you delete, so you may be able to come back and restore some of it. If you want a clean break, don’t log back in during that window.
How to Delete Your Hinge Account
- Open Hinge and sign in.
- Tap your photo icon on the far right of the bottom bar.
- Tap the gear icon to open Account Settings.
- Scroll down, tap Delete Account and follow the prompts.
Already uninstalled Hinge? Its help center says to contact the support team, and they will help you close the account. Hinge says deleting removes your photos, chat history and member interactions in line with its privacy policy.
One thing to know: Hinge is owned by Match Group, which also runs Tinder and OkCupid. Hinge’s privacy policy says your information can be shared across Match Group companies. We cover this, plus location tracking, in our Hinge vs Bumble privacy guide.
How to Delete Your Bumble Account
- Cancel Bumble Boost, Premium or Premium+ if you have it.
- Open Bumble (app or web) and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Pick a reason and confirm.
Bumble says that deleting the app or going inactive for a long time will not delete your profile. Locked out? Contact Bumble support, choose the data request option and ask for deletion. Bumble says this can take up to 30 days and it will verify your identity.

Your Dating Profile Can Outlive Your Account
Here is what most “how to delete” guides miss. Deleting the app removes your profile from that app. It does not remove the details a match could find about you elsewhere.
- People-search sites. Your first name, age and city are often enough for a match to find your full name, home address and phone number on data broker sites.
- Reverse image search. Your dating photos may also be on Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook, which links them back to you.
- Screenshots. Anything a match saved stays with them.
You can remove yourself from data brokers for free, one site at a time, with our step-by-step guide to removing your personal information from the internet. It works, but there are dozens of sites and many re-list you after a few months.
Want it done for you? A data removal service sends the opt-out requests to brokers on your behalf and keeps sending them when you get re-listed. That is the only real fix for the “they found my address” problem, and it takes about ten minutes to set up. We checked whether the best-known one is worth paying for in our honest Incogni review, including what it can’t remove.
Staying on a Dating App? Keep Your Chats Private
If you keep one app, the easiest leak to fix is the person next to you on the train or in the office reading your chats. A privacy screen protector darkens your screen from the side, so only you can see it straight on. Check the current price and choose the right model for your phone.
Best value: UNBREAKcable Privacy Screen Protector (2-pack). Tens of thousands of buyers have rated it, and you get a spare in the box, which helps if your first try goes on crooked. A smart, low-risk buy. Check the current price (iPhone 17)
Premium pick: ZAGG Glass Elite Privacy. If you want a well-known screen brand, ZAGG is the step up. ZAGG says this glass is five times stronger than standard glass, and it is built to resist smudges. It costs more than budget packs, and you get one protector, so take your time when you put it on. Check the current price (iPhone 17)

Not Sure? Pause Instead of Deleting
If you only want a break, every app has a softer option. Hinge has Pause, Bumble has Snooze and Tinder lets you hide your profile. Your matches and chats stay, and nobody new sees you. Our Hinge incognito guide explains what Pause does and doesn’t hide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does deleting Tinder delete my data?
Not right away. Tinder says it keeps profile data for 90 days after you delete, so you may be able to restore some of it. Download your data first, because you lose access to the download once the account is gone.
Does uninstalling Hinge or Bumble delete my account?
No. All three apps say removing the app from your phone does not delete your profile. You have to choose Delete Account in the app settings or on the web.
Will deleting my account cancel my subscription?
Not on Tinder, and you should not count on it for Hinge or Bumble either. Cancel the subscription in your app store or the app first, then delete the account.
Can I delete my Bumble account without logging in?
Yes. Bumble says its support team can delete it if you send a data request. It can take up to 30 days and they will check your identity.
Should I pause instead of deleting?
If you only want a break, yes. Hinge has Pause, Bumble has Snooze and Tinder lets you hide your profile. Your matches and chats stay. If you want your data gone, delete.
Why can strangers still find me after I delete my dating app?
Your name, age, city and photos may also sit on people-search sites and social profiles. Deleting the app does not touch those. Removing yourself from data brokers is a separate job.
